Living with the lock-down – and the changing situation
Thank you all for your positive support and encouraging messages for both the thoughts for the day and our Sunday morning services. Jonathan Corwin and Barry Hart work very hard to achieve these and it is good that people are expressing their appreciation of all the hard work that they put in. Thanks also to Lucy Bunce for letting us use her recorded music as well.
A big thank you, too, to all the people who have been ringing round and supporting one another during this time of crisis. We are probably entering a phase where we don’t need to be quite as diligent in ringing each other as the regulations are eased. However, if you do have any problems or need any help, please do contact either your Home Group leader, if you are in a homegroup, Lesley Williams our Parish nurse or me on 01284 769956, or send me an email direct / via the church website.
When will the church open?
At the moment there are no dates or plans to open any of the churches in England. As soon as we have those regulations, we will set in motion a plan to be open within the guidelines. The reason for the delay is if it causes an increased risk to people it would be unfair and unchristian to open. It is better stay as we are; no matter how frustrating that is, than have some of our members become seriously ill by attending.
In the meantime, there are plenty of things to celebrate and to enjoy. The Wednesday evening prayer meeting is growing and, if you would like to participate in that, please let me know and I will send you a personalised invitation by email so you can join. Please do not pass that email on to anybody else but rather get people to approach me if they want to join.
We will be running an Alpha course, and as soon as we are ready we will let you know. Please pray for its success every day. We are also thinking of having young people’s meetings on Zoom and possibly a Bible study. If you are interested a bible study for adults, please do let me know and I will see what we can arrange.
We are in the process of setting up a page on the website where people can, if they wish, make donations towards the ongoing costs of running the church and maintaining the building. We will let you know as soon as this is up and ready. A big thank you too, to Colleen Hart and Steve Lovell for setting this up for us. In the meantime, if you wish to give either by setting up a standing order or sending us a cheque, please feel free to contact our treasurer Colleen for further information. Her email address is: colleen [at] missymee.plus.com
Please be assured of my continuing prayers and the goodwill of myself, the Churchwardens and the entire PCC as we seek to lead the church forward in these difficult times.
With every good wish,
Revd. Canon Jonathan Ford
Minister of Christ Church Moreton Hall.
