SAFEGUARDING
SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT
Christ Church Moreton Hall fully endorses the safeguarding policies of the Church of England regarding children and vulnerable adults. Our PCC has adopted the House Of Bishops’ “Promoting A Safer Church” document and created a policy statement with this as a foundation. These policies emphasise that the Church of England is committed to:
- The care, nurture of, and respectful pastoral ministry with, all children and all adults.
- The safeguarding and protection of all children, young people and adults when they are vulnerable.
- The establishment of safe, caring communities which provide a loving environment where there is a culture of ‘informed vigilance’ as to the dangers of abuse.
The first appendix linked below is our Parish Safeguarding Policy, agreed and signed by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) in February 2026. This policy is reviewed on a yearly basis.
The second appendix is a copy of the important Church of England document “Promoting a safer church” – all members of the PCC and all clergy/lay ministers are familiar with this document.
The third appendix, linked below, is our PCC agreed church procedure for dealing with any safeguarding concerns or allegations.
Those with operational responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults within the church are the Parish Safeguarding Officers:
- Heather Lovell, phone: 07889 202877
- Paul Hickman, phone: 07970 899125
Heather and Paul can be contacted by email at safeguarding@ccmh.org.uk
During our current interregnum, safeguarding is the responsibility of our Parish Safeguarding Officers (PSO) and Churchwardens.
Lesley Williams, Parish Nurse, can also be contacted for advice about safeguarding on 01284 725391. Call 999 if a child or adult is in immediate danger of significant or serious harm.
We are part of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. The diocese website has further information about safeguarding:
